The Different Types of Dent Repair

A mechanic doing a dent fix on a car as a female watches from behindWhen it comes to dent repair there are two main methods we use. At C & D Dent Guys, we prefer to employ paintless dent repair, but we often use traditional methods of dent repair as well. The process we use will depend on the extend of the damage on your vehicle.

Paintless Dent Repair

In order for our technicians to repair dents, they use different methods. However, we do prefer paintless dent repair for several reasons. First and foremost, this way of repairing dents restores your car back to its previous state. The paint is not affected because the dents are simply pulled out. Secondly, this form of repair is a lot faster and easier. When the dent has not penetrated the paint we don’t have to worry about using Bondo or any other extensive measures to fill the dent. We also don’t need to worry about matching your paint color. Our skilled technicians will access the exterior of your vehicle through removing panels. They will use special tools and suction cups to pull out the dents. This is especially useful for hail damage.

Traditional Method

The traditional method used to repair dents is a bit more extensive. If the dent has compromised the paint the only way to repair dents will be by using this method. The portion of the car will be sanded down and then filled with a compound. Then our technicians will take the time to match the paint color precisely. Lazy technicians will simply look inside the door frame and find the paint color number the car came with. This method is only acceptable if you have not owned your car for more than a few weeks or possibly months. However, for most car owners their vehicle sits in a parking lot or driveway for several hours a day. The sun takes its toll on the paint color. It is better to match the paint color directly to the car.
